DAY 302: September 9th, 2010; THURSDAY

Dear Jam,

It's a serious laughing matter with which this picture on your left was taken. Serious because it could have been fatal but laughing matter thankfully because you only managed to get two in your mouth and it was just Vitamin E in gel caps. I was confident that as Daddy's and my vitamins are in tightly sealed bottles, you wouldn't figure out how to open it. But of course, intelligent girl, you did! And I only found about it, doing some chores, when you came up to me and said "Mama nanam" and opened your mouth for me to see what was it. It's a kind of moment they have in movies where you'd drop whatever you were holding just to save the child. Sheesh! It was priceless how you've strewn some capsules on the bed and chewed some in your mouth. No wonder it says "KEEP OUT FROM CHILDREN'S REACH" at the back. Thank God! You didn't choke no!

Mamilou and Nahnang came to visit you today,
bringing the presents
from Mamilou's trip to GEN SAN. To her excitement of seeing you after days on the trip and away from you, she tripped on that one solitary step leading to our receiving area. It was bad! I think she hurt her big toe bad! But all that was disregarded as you displayed antic after another. You showed them the "tatap jupee" to my goading and then told Nahnang off for texting in your presence. She was seated separately from us while
Mamilou and I were on the bed. You directed her to a part of the bed, even provided her pillow on that spot and nagged her with indistinct baby talk to join us.

Mamala is, despite complaints, still working. She's managing Carmen with the rush of customers for the Derby. That's why when you met Papalo's big sister, Lola Joy from Manila who visited, you would ask for her to pick you up with your "Lala". I hope Mamala is going to be okay, though.

I uploaded your recent pix today and well, the usual family and friends showed some love. I feel great when people appreciate you because in a way, it comes back to me as kudos for the effort of raising you.

JAMantic of the Day:
1. You were playing with Georgio, your huggable big pink bear, so you say as if it could understand you "Dodo, up!" Hehehe IT WAS SO CUTE!!!

2. I was cleaning my ears and you have this fetish with your ear. It's an obsession you took on after Daddy and me, which involved soft and gentle strokes at the outer ear. So you saw me, pointed the bed and pointed your ear to tell me that you wanted it. "Mama o!" you said.

Dear Baby Kitten,

I'm so nervous (and at the same time excited) or my exams tomorrow - that's practical exam by the way. It's actually 2AM of 090909 - ooh! That's a triple nine! Today should be my lucky day because nine is my lucky number! Nah! I just hope God guides me in my exam, I started studying late because I always seem to hav a reason to put it off like watching you - and watching "UP" (that heartwarming 3D animated film). And I've also been putting it off because I though I lost the touch but after I memorized the 5 strokes of Swedish Massage (with all the purposes, benefits and contraindications) I said to myself that yes, I still have it! ;)

P.S.
Today as you took a bath, you discovered the use of "tabo" or "ka-boh"; how you can catch water with it, how you can tip it over a part of your body to wash yourself. You even held it by the handle; another advancement since you discovered how to switch a light off and on two weeks ago.

Love, Mamimeow

DAY 303: September 8th, 2010; WEDNESDAY

Dear Jam,

Mamilou is home from GENERAL SANTOS! And what surprises have we got!

Nahnang came over the cafe so we could fetch Mamilou from the drop-off point of her bus. She visited you most importantly first when Mamilou couldn't. Mamilou brought a lot of stuff and tired from the trip, she couldn't think straight let alone visit you.

Anyway, you were blessed with a pack of sylvanas from your Tita-Ninang-Jollibee-Ma'am-Deen who came from a trip to Leyte. She came for a net session and a session cuddling with you. Too bad, I don't have a picture of you both though.

We're a little bit worried for Mamala today. She's been complaining of pain, symptom of her hypertension. I hope she's going to be okay. She's going thru menopausal age and it's going to make her diabetes and hypertension a tad worse.

JAMantic of the Day:
We were in the shower and well, of course I had to remove my underpants. So as lo and behold, you saw the part which was your means of egress from my body to ingress this world, you pointed it and said "Ala! Ibi o!" to mean "Hey! There's a (female sex organ)!"

September 7, 2009

Dear Baby Kitten,

You've just turned eight months and we've just gotten home from a visit to Carmen.

There's just a lot to report because I've been sleeping early a lot and that's so for your sleeping pattern has changed again. I think I'm also a big contributing factor to that because I noticed, if I stay in bed (rather than stay up and do something else) you sleep so soundly. I think you're a little bit more sensitive of my presence.

So on with the reporting.

On the 5th, we went to Carmen. It was a Saturday and my reason for rearranging our scheduled visits is due to my Sunday meeting with my group in Massage Class. It was also on the 5th that I noted your progress in motor skills when you stood up by yourself as you held on to the wall as if with an invisible adhesive. But I had to uproot you because the paint was peeling off and I'm cautious about you ingesting any of the shavings (or debris). We went to Carmen to show off your new 'do, I left you there for a couple of hours to check your Daddy's remittance, only to find out it hasn't arrived yet so I stayed out longer than expected because I had to e-mail Daddy about it. And then of course check my FB, upload pix in Multiply and check whatever). I got back to you to tell your Mamala that we couldn't buy your diapers.

On Sunday, my visitors came despite a heavy pour but because of this, your Mamala and Papalo were'nt able to fetch you; they were supposed to borrow you for the day while I had the meeting and pre-exam practice. Anyway, so that's the reason why we visited today, to make up for the missed day. Our visit produced an endowment of a 52-pc pack of diaper. That's how they love you sweetie! They also bought fresh batteries for your walker so it can play music again. Mamala even said she'll buy that rattan high chair she haggled for Php800 from Php 1,200 original price. Wow! It's a nice thought but I don't want them thinking that I'm not taking any responsibilities.

Love, Mamimeow

DAY 304: September 7th, 2010; TUESDAY

Dear Jam,

HAPPY MONTHSARY BABY KITTEN!

You're 20 months now and growing. So yes, Daddy and I measured you up against the wall. However, we have no idea how we would know what that really means in meters or feet because we don't have a measuring tape. But anyway, we did it and I'm going to keep on doing it every 7th of the month. It's also Nohnong Poloy's birthday today! SO happy birthday to the both of you! We had carbonara and ice cream. The ice cream really got you hyped after
spoonfuls and spoonfuls after another. You were just screaming and screaming and running and going about. You were so hyped that when you saw our petling Meemeen in our PET SOCIETY, you screamed, wriggled and said "meoweeyeoweeeyeow". You were so funny doing that and even earlier at home with the "hair roach". It is so called because you hate roaches, like your Daddy and then here's something that I do with my falling hair, I roll them up in neat little bunches so they would be easier to dispose of. Not knowing it's effect on you, I threw a piece on the floor, you had the impression that it was a cockroach and with the wind from the electric fan blowing it, you actually thought it was moving towards you. You were so funny pointing at it saying"hala hala". Daddy and I had the idea to discipline you using the "hair roach" from now on, just to keep you put. And that's a neat trick I learned from my grandmother, Nanay Tating, how she rolls up those salt-and-pepper colored locks into tiny balls ,leaving it for the wind to carry. I miss her. *sigh* You and I are both lucky to have met and encountered our grandparents. As for you, being the apple of everyone's eyes, you just got so spoiled! Like today, Mamala didn't forget to give you your own gift, a new set of comfty jammies. You looked so cute in it, Daddy and I agree.

JAMantic of the Day:
You have this little scratch on your knee, which I really don't know how it came to be. I think you do because you pointed it to me and said "hala ara yayay" meaning "oh here's the wound" or something like that. Hehehe ;)

Your MAYmah,

DAY 305: September 6th, 2010; MONDAY

Dear Jam,

I got a text message from Mamilou telling me how she is enjoying General Santos right now - in fact, she is in Manny Pacquiao's estate. She was lucky enough to be with a company who was a friend of the National Champion's family. I'm glad that she is having a blast, I just wanna have the tuna! Hahahah ;)

You and I watched Judy Anne Santos' and her now husband Ryan Agoncillo's SAKAL, SAKALI, SAKLOLO. It's a movie they made together before they got married, even before they got engaged. I'm saying this because I am not a huge fan of either but I have been following since the prequel (gar, I don't even know the title). Anyway, it's about the life of a married couple and the things that go between in, the whys and the hows and the whats. I couldn't relate to it as much but then I have the same fears in the wife's position. It's a common fear, you'll know when you grow up. It's something that stresses me out but it's a good thing that you were there for me to cuddle with. I think my cuddling was annoying you a bit as I was nibbling your ear, you were pleading me with "yaw mama". You were telling me to stop it but with that sweet voice of yours, I just couldn't.

We had blackout today and I got so ticked off with the timing because it was barely an hour before you had your forty winks. I'm not complaining about the power shortage if only you weren't easily sweaty on the head, I wouldn't be worried as much. I had to continually fan your head so you wouldn't sweat as much. Daddy
didn't come and fetch us until after 30 minutes.

JAMantic of the Day:
1. You had fun playing the mommy, carrying your bag around and then saying "baed".

2. Out of the blue you just told Daddy and I "Tatap jupee" we didn't understand what that was until you started jumping. So that was the start of "Jamjam jumping".

Your MAYmah,

DAY 306: September 5th, 2010; SUNDAY

Dear Jam,

I woke up very (very) early today to do the laundry. Knowing that I have to contest with a whole town for the water, I woke up at 5:30 AM so the water would flow faster into the washing machine. Thank God I just made it before lunch time. Daddy was up early, too. He went to Carmen to play basketball with Nohnong. *sigh* I've never seen him play, I wish one day I could just watch him in a basketball league!

It was a laid back day for us. You and I stayed home had an early bike ride and had a video marathon where I discovered your new vocabulary antics for the day. One would be the "hay" sigh that you mimicked from Hello Kitty whenever she does it. You also repeated after the videos saying "bud" for bug and "piedet" for spider. I'll just keep playing these videos and soon you'll be hitting those nails home! :D

When Daddy came home, he enjoyed the laid back day with us, watching your videos, listening to how you followed the pronunciations. We were so glad to both hear how you said "poe" for four. Now, that's progress from when you last said "tee" for three. Daddy was even luckier as he was a recipient of the massage you and I gave him.

We also enjoyed the watermelon, a thing the three of us like, that Daddy brought home with him. He said that when he was small, he had a picture taken with a huge head of melon and he wanted you to reenact that. Thus, the picture. Unfortunately, we couldn't put your picture and his old one together because it's gone with the fire. What we would delight in comparing tho is his pictures now with ball caps and you today with his ball cap on.

As we turned in, we had a late night karaoke, which lulled you to sleep.

JAMantic of the Day:
1. Daddy came home with a loaf of our favorite ube bread from Kathryn's. The two of you were just at it so you each had big bites. We gave you one big slice, which you were sweet enough to share to Daddy and me.

2. You have this black stuffed cat with a huge head but it was a small detail on its but that you noticed and pointed saying "ara yayay meemeen", which means "here is this cat's injury".

Your MAYmah,
