TO: The ANGEL in my Womb
According to the Maternal Handouts from ANMUM, (which was given by our OB-GYN) that by the sixth month, you are already capable of relating to external noise; from my side. You can also make more than just kicks; you can cry and hiccup and have a determined schedule of sleeping and waking up on your own. When I told your Ninang that you can hear us, she mumbled something to you "SOSOY" - it's our term of endearment ti anything cute. And though your nickname will be "JAM", at one point, you'll be called "Sosoy".
"Sosoy" is actually your Uncle Neil's nickname. For he is the very epitome of ultimate cuteness - was, when he was a young boy. Not that he isn't cuter now that he's is a year older than Ninang. So anything that is ultimately cute is a "Sosoy".
Guess what? I happened to cross an old diary entry I wrote on my birthday in 1994. My grammar was so weird and funny. I guess we all go through that, don't we?
Earlier, while I was taking a shower, I thought about my education and how someday you might ask me why it took me so long to finish. Well, when you're grown up, I will tell you that no one should force us to take a road they would have wished to traverse but had not so they push others, their children to take the road they would have wished to travel. It shouldn't be that way. Although some children simply ask their parents to choose for them. But you my dear, if there is an ambition you wish to achieve, I shall not coerce you otherwise unless there arises ambiguities and obstacles; i.e. money. If we can't get it with scholarship or if we don't have money to support it, perhaps we can together as a family, convene on an alternative. I hope it will be agreed upon by all parties. In saying that, your Daddy's approval pertinent of all should be heard.
Well, I just finished sketching, inking and then coloring (colored pencil and black/violet markers) a new piece - it's my quotation of an artist's Elektra; she's a comic book character. In the frame, she appears foreshortened as she points the gun at a target but it's a medium shot without the face of her target. It's quite an accomplishment for me for it will have been my first time incorporating colors on pencil, ink and the very first time a sketch got so mechanical. I had to draw a gun, something so masculine that I thought I'd find difficult to accomplish. But I did it all in freehand. Well, except for the borderline...hehe!
