THE NATIVITY By Screen Australia: 4 STARS

This was the title suggested to us by the DVD stall owner, she told us that it was good for kids, kids-at-heart, and kids who like singing. I guess you and I fit quite well in both categories.

It was a heart-warming, feel-good mish mash of drama and comedy which says true for any tasking school production. And there it was, a Christmas school production at Saint Bernadette's, a school whose reputation was only just. Not only that, they have to vie against another prominent school whose Nativity production every year has collected five stars from the local paper review.

As an eternal admirer of anything that is theatrical, I found it to be an exciting journey of washed out stage actor who decided to teach. It was his girlfriend, also a former stage actor, who taught him the love for Christmas. But then she had to move on to Hollywood to work, they had to break up and he had to be left by himself, sulking and hating everything that has to do with Christmas.

Now here's where it starts, it's the Headmistress' last year and if not for which, he wouldn't have acquiesced to handle anymore flop that happens every year. I like the Headmistress. She also happens to play Aunt Marge in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Sorry I had to bring that up. Harry Potter fan here.

What twists it around than was necessary is the fact that the Teacher Aide has run around with the news that certain Hollywood producers would come and visit Saint Bernadette's to cover the very production. But that didn't happen even if the teacher with two little tots who were to portray Mary and Joseph joined him in a trip to Tinsel Town to convince them to watch the show. I mean it didn't happen as they would have expected it but the girlfriend and one of the producers came to watch it incognito.

As an eternal lover of anything that has a trilling high-pitched voiced, anything that moves with all the colors, and anything that makes you wiggle and dance in your seat, it was a show for you as well.

I give this movie four stars for original music and cuteness factor.
